Just a quick update and then I am off to get some zzzzz's!
- I will be working at the library next year! What a blessing from God- no cafeteria! My position is in the CMC (Curriculum Materials Center), and consists of shelving materials, straightening, organizing, making fun bulletin boards, and shelf reading. The director of this part of the library is very nice; we talked for a while about being a school librarian. He said it was the best job, because not only did you get to teach and interact with kids, you also got to read children's books all day!
- On that note, the more I study, the more concentrations I want to get my Masters degree in. So far I am thinking about Library Science (school librarian), Reading, and Special Ed. That is going to be a huge decision to make, so it's good that it is somewhat far away…. although two years at college will fly by, these last two did.
- Easter break is coming up! It will be exciting to see my family and the new renovations on our house!
- A teacher thing: Using plastic bathroom tiles, each day give a collection of letters. Have the students write the letters on their tiles with washable markers, in random order. Next, have the students rearrange the letters to come up with words that have the same rime. This can be made a game, with whoever is the fastest winning. At the end of the activity, the students can try to see if there is a large word that uses all the letters. This activity can be done every day with a different rime. The students can wipe the tiles with a rag to use them over and over. An example of this activity:
Letters: l, t, a, s, i, r
Rime: ail
Words: tail, rail, sail
Big word: Trails, Trials
