Today was a wonderful day!
First, I got to pet a toy poodle! A girl was walking it and two York Terriers on the main sidewalk. I stopped to talk to her, because I work with her in Chucks. The toy poodle jumped up on me, so I petted it, and then it licked me on my hand! I thought immediately- "Why, your tongue is smooth". I know that dogs' tongues are smooth, but I am so used to kitty! That was a blessing today, because I miss small furry beings.
The second big blessing that God did today was this: Emily and I went to an Alumni of CU's house tonight for dinner! It was amazing!! They were a young couple, named Steven and Tanna, with a 5 year old girl named Julie, and twin 3 year olds named Tiffany and Tyler. Tyler was away in DC, so we didn't get to meet him. The children were very polite and cheerful; there was no conflict the entire evening. The time went so fast, we just chatted with them all about the university and their children. Tiffany has cerebral palsy; she was just learning to walk, which she could do with a walker. Tanna said that with a child who has cerebral palsy, each new skill is a gift from God, and she has learned not to put a time schedule on her development. Tiffany was very independent for someone with the disability; she ate by herself, walked a little, and was able to take her shirt off. The entire family was so sweet and giving, the evening was so enjoyable on many levels. Julie was an excellent Wii bowling player; she scored three strikes in a row! She was talkative too, I was reminded how much I love conversations with young people! Both of them had extremely active imaginations, and had no trouble playing with each other or alone. It was an encouragement to be around such a great family.
Then, to top our night off, Em and I went shopping at the dollar store! I got a water bottle; so now I can stay hydrated all the time.
