Today's chapel was on character and leadership. I do not yet know all of the ways that God will put me in a position of leadership, but I need to be ready with my life for the mission that God has for me. Part of this is developing character.

Challenges:

  • Meekness: The title of my blog and my theme verse is centered on living a quiet life in the sight of God and men. The character behind this is meekness. It is a fruit of the Spirit, so I should be evidencing it in my life. What exactly is it? It is humbleness, modesty, submissiveness to others, an attitude of patience. It means to have strength under control. Meekness is curbing the natural sinful desires to promote self, and to have our own way. The interesting thing about meekness is that through serving others before yourself, you actually gain the greatest contentment. It seems a dichotomy, yet it is true, since I have on rare occasions experienced it. So, in my life I will attempt to make these occasions more and more frequent, through reining my desires in and developing humbleness.
  • Integrity: This is crucial to a Christian's walk with God. It is defined as the state of being unimpaired, or wholeness. To be whole, a person must behave the same in all situations and events that occur. This is when I am alone, or when I am with one group of friends, or another, or my family. I must have unity in my actions, and being under Christ should provide that unity. To obey without question the cause of Christ is the goal of integrity. That needs to be the goal in my life as well.
