-Worldwide, it is estimated that somewhere between 700,000 and four million women, children and men are trafficked each year, and no region is unaffected.

-UNICEF reports that across the world, there are over one million children entering the sex trade every year and that approximately 30 million children have lost their childhood through sexual exploitation over the past 30 years.

-The U.S. Department of State estimates that about 600,000 to 800,000 people - mostly women and children - are trafficked across national borders annually.
[Note: This estimate does not include those trafficked within national borders.]

-Prostitution in the Philippines is a de facto legal industry that is now the fourth largest source of gross national product (GNP) for the country.
300,000 sex tourists from Japan alone are believed to visit the Philippines every year.

-In a recent US study of almost 2,000 prostitutes followed over a 30-year period, by far the most common causes of death were homicide, suicide, drug and alcohol related problems, HIV infection and accidents - in that order.

-Human trafficking affects virtually every region of the world. People from 127 countries are exploited in 137 countries

-An estimated 2.4 million people are currently in forced labor-including sexual exploitation-as a result of trafficking. This is around a fifth of the total number of people in forced labor worldwide.

-The profits from trafficked forced labor are estimated at $32 billion a year. Of this about $10 billion is derived from the initial 'sale' of individuals with the remainder representing the estimated profits from their exploitation.

-In the 19th century, the civilized world recognized that slavery was a moral blot on humanity and rose up against it. So why should we acquiesce in 21st-century slavery, when 15-year-old girls are imprisoned in brothels and sentenced to death by AIDS?

Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
Ones that are far beyond my reach.
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
