I will be working at the Centennial Library Curriculum Materials Center at school next year. Tonight I began job shadowing as part of my training. I cannot begin to say how much of a blessing it is to work at the library. Here are a few highlights of my job:
-Shelf reading. Reading the numbers, like a kind of secret code where the letters and numbers all match up.
-Finding interesting books. And checking them out later! Being around so many children's books makes me joyful.
-Shelving. Putting books in their place, finding satisfaction in knowing that there is only one place for that book and it is there.
-Orderliness. Everything is so neat and tidy, and all the books are in order.
-Interacting with people. I can't wait! Getting to talk to people and help them out, finding books for them, chit chatting about their selections.
-Getting to know the staff. Librarians are often the most interesting people to talk to. My boss is so kind and generous, and a joy to be around and talk to.
-Books books books! I love them, and I am so excited to find out where everything is in the curriculum center!
